Snape Maltings
Our submission for Aldeburgh Music and Suffolk Coastal District Council’s children’s viewing sculpture consisted of a large playful seesaw that would provide a sense of adventure for all children; referencing the nearby reeds in motion and form.
From the applied motion of play, the seesaw will create a musical overture to the play experience, with a blast of air collected from the bellow pushed out through the organ pipes to emit playful sounds across the landscape. The notion of reeds to create sounds is rooted within site specific context of the music hall and the referential history of reed instruments.
