Mathilda Durkin
Mathilda’s studies took her from Newcastle University to the Royal College of Art for her post-graduate degree. Working predominantly with the studio’s housing team, she is honing her interior design skills and enjoying working with listed buildings and heritage sites with an emphasis on sustainability.
Her interest in the profession stems from its wide-ranging impact and the diversity of topics it covers. At the studio every day is different, spanning from collaborative design amongst the team to independent detailed design. Mathilda is motivated by this and by being a part of a project’s life span, seeing it move from the feasibility to completion stages.
Academia, writing and research are also amongst her specialisms, along with strong hand-drawing skills, used to great effect in supporting and communicating the studio’s work.
