Invisibly Green
15 May 2017
We have recently finished work on a four-storey Victorian house in Islington which had remained untouched for over 30 years. We radically transformed and extended the building whilst dramatically improving energy efficiency to as near to a PassiveHaus standard as possible whilst incorporating the highest quality finishes and interior design.
Energy efficient technologies installed within the house include, internally super-insulating all external walls and providing an air tight internal wrap; all exposed joists ends lagged; thermally isolating all new steelwork and structural elements; proving air-tight double and triple glazing; whole-house ventilation; solar thermal panels; rainwater harvesting; intelligent building management system and provision for future geothermal heating.
We worked carefully with our collaborators Enhabit to radically increase energy performance, which now far exceeds current building regulation requirements. Canonbury Park South demonstrates that you can have a low energy sustainable home without sacrificing design quality.
